Feitoria do Cacao is a chocolate shop founded by Tomoko Suga and Sue Tavares, immediately after their visit to São Tomé. On their trip, they toured several local plantations and met the cocoa farmers directly. During the trip, they got a closer look at the chocolate making process and were surprised at how different the quality bean to bar chocolate tastes from the commonly available bars. The taste of real chocolate was suddenly very rich, full and sweet. This convinced Sue and Tomoko of the importance of the quality of the cocoa beans used to make chocolate and that they would like to support local farmers.
